“Forest resources for population health” is the slogan for Ayurdhara
Ayurdhara is a project of the Kerala State Federation of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Development Cooperatives Limited, a Government of Kerala co-operative enterprise.
Ayurdhara Pharmaceutical was set up under the leadership of the federation at Anjeri in Thrissur with the financial assistance of National Cooperative Development Corporation. Today the institution is on the way of development and about 242 types of ayurvedic medicines are being produced. Honey processing units and tablet producing plant were started later. Apart from these, a Panchakarma centre is functioning properly. The Government has awarded to the Federation the exclusive right to collect minor forest produce (MFP) and medicinal herbs from the State’s forests.
Arishtam, Asavam, ghrithas, lehyas, choornam, thailam, and keragal etc and five patent medicines are being produced here. Ayurdhara barm , ayurdharalin, ayurdharahyppotten, ayurdhara expower and ayurdharadayab are the patent medicines.
Despite prolonged neglect and skepticism, Ayurveda has kept an unbroken contact with its illustrious past. Today, a grand revival of this natural and versatile medical system is evident not only in India but also across the entire world. Ayurdhara Pharmaceuticals has taken a major initiative for taking advantage of this popular enthusiasm. Today, the factory at South Anchery, Thrissur, produces more than 400 Ayurvedic medicines. Ayurdhara Medicines are now mostly supplied to Government Ayurvedic Hospitals and Health Centers in Kerala. These medicines will also be made available to the public through private-sector retail outlets in a phased manner.
